Electric Car Unveilings at CES 2018: from Fisker to Byton

CES 2018 has hosted many electric car unveilings this year, and has featured a lot of new EV related technology. There were some highs and lows but overall it showcased the ever growing electric car movement very well.

Byton was probably the most exciting unveiling and their new electric car, which does not yet have a name, has featured probably one of the most advanced and interesting set of technologies which I believe many other car companies will follow. It has a good range of over 300 miles and autonomous driving features and gadgets. The problem is that Byton is still looking for its second round of funding and does not have a factory yet.

Fisker was the most anticipated unveiling for the electric cars at CES. It did not have an unveiling event or even its own booth. Fisker EMotion, the $130,000 four door sedan with 400 miles of range, was hosted at Quanergy booth, the maker of its lidar. The car is beautiful but, of course, there are questions about its price tag and the ability to make it to the market.

Kia Niro EV was unveiled quietly and I would say was the most underrated electric car news at CES. It has an impressive 238 mile range, looks great for an SUV and will be on sale by the end of the year!

Workhorse has showed up with its electric pickup truck with 80 miles of range and a gas extender to 400 miles. Genovation GXE was there as well, showcasing how converting a Corvette, a popular gas car, to an electric version makes the car much better. Xpeng Motors was there with almost an intend to hide from the press, and a few other companies including Nissan, Mercedes Benz, Toyota and others presenting their vision for the electric cars.

More reports and videos to come as the CES comes to the end tomorrow.
