According to a rumor posted by Just Disney, Tesla may be negotiating with Disney in order to sponsor the Tomorrowland Speedway and make its go-carts all-electric. Will this reported Tesla and Disney partnership actually bear fruit?
Tesla and Disney Partnership
According to Just Disney, Tesla and The Walt Disney Company are in the midst of talks about giving Tesla the opportunity to sponsor the Tomorrowland Speedway. This sponsorship would allow for some much-needed updates, while also giving Tesla an opportunity for subtle advertising.
Tomorrowland is a themed land at Disney Parks which is meant to invoke visions of the future. The Tomorrowland Speedway is an attraction at Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park in Orlando, Florida where kids have the opportunity to drive a gas-powered go-kart along a scenic track.
The sources claim that Tesla would replace the current go-karts with all-electric versions. These custom go-karts would have the Tesla logo on the front of each vehicle.
Marketing To Younger Generations
While only time will tell if the rumor has any basis to it, the possibility that it is true is certainly promising. It is a great way to normalize the use of electric cars and get children interested in them while they are young, at the very least by name. Switching the go-karts to electric also has the added benefit of doing away with the emissions, smell, and noise of their gas-powered counterparts. Moreover, it should greatly reduce the operating costs for the ride. Electric-powered go-karts would definitely make for a better experience for visitors and park workers alike.
This is not the first time that Tesla is reaching out to children. Back in 2017 Tesla partnered with Radio Flyer to make a Tesla Model S for kids, a drivable, electric-powered toy. The vehicle charges just like a regular electric vehicle and is customizable just like a normal Tesla.
