The dual motor option for the Tesla Model 3 is one of the most anticipated features since the Model 3 itself. It looks like Tesla has just registered a second small batch of VINs that are decoded to a dual motor versions of the sedan. It is obvious that because it’s a 24 car batch it is for testing purposes at this point, but it does look like Tesla is getting closer to releasing it to the public within the schedule they have posted which is “Sprint of 2018”.
It will be interesting to see if the first available dual motor Model 3s go to Tesla employees or at this point it is a fair game for all Tesla owners to get. The price is expected to be somewhere between $3,000 and $5,000 for the dual motor option.
It is still unclear if Tesla will make the standard range battery available before the dual motor option but their website still states the “Start of 2018” as the release timing for the standard battery.
