This June Tesla’s board of directors will be voting on whether or not to remove its CEO Elon Musk as chairman of the board. This proposal comes from a shareholder who only holds 15 shares of Tesla but argues that Elon Musk is not an independent chairman and that’s something that a lot of European and American companies are moving away from. Tesla board had issued a statement that they are not supporting such move but nevertheless the issue will be up for a vote in June.
Even though this doesn’t seem to pose any actual issues for Tesla or Elon Musk, it does bring up a question and a conversation on whether or not Elon Musk is the right guy to continue in his current capacity. Is he spread too thin? Is he too raw to be a CEO of the company that grew to this size? This news may just be the beginning of a longer process or conversation about Elon Musk’s leadership.
